8th Grade Students will be held accountable for conduct with a 10 Point Demerit System. The point system begins on March 1, 2020. Students will begin with 0 points. Students who enroll after the 3rd quarter will begin with 3 points. They will receive points for committing infractions as follow:
    Off-campus Suspension                         = 3 Points
    On-campus Suspension (full day)         = 2 Points
    On-Campus Suspension (partial day)   = 1 Point
    Referral  to admin                       =      1 point
    Unserved Detentions                             = 1 point
The following are the consequences and loss of privileges for receiving Demerit Points.
    1-2 points =  Warning
3 points = Parent Conference
       4 points  = Warning
       5 points = Loss of Privilege - 8th grade picnic
       6 points  = Warning
       7 points = Loss of Privilege - 8th grade fieldtrip Knott's Berry Farm)
    8-9 points   = Warning 
     10 points  = Loss of Privilege - Graduation Ceremony

8th Grade Picnic

Where is the picnic located?
The picnic takes place at Scher Park which is across the street from the school. Students will over with their class.
What happens at the picnic what is it like?
The picnic is designed for students to celebrate with one another their upcoming promotion to High School.  Students are provided lunch, snacks, and beverages.  The event is supervised by school staff as well as parent volunteers.  There will be games  activities, signing each other’s yearbooks, etc.

Are parents allowed to attend the picnic?
Yes, parents are allowed to share in this joyous occasion. Please complete the chaperone form to attend the picnic.

May I bring food for the picnic?Food will be brought in by the 8th Grade Activities Committee.  Your 8th grade donation money is partly used to purchase food and supplies for the picnic.  If you student has special dietary needs, you may of course have him/her bring a lunch from home.
What is the dress code for the picnic?

The same rules at school will apply for the picnic.  Shorts and tops must be appropriate.  Your student will be at the park so tennis shoes are highly recommended.
Are students allowed to bring electronic devices to the park?No, the event is being held during school time.  The same school rules apply just as if students were in a classroom.  Electric devices will be confiscated if brought to the picnic.
May I pick my student up from the picnic?
Students will be back on campus by 6th period and will be dismissed at the usual time.  If you need to pick-up your student early, please inform us in advance of the day of the event. 

Knott's Berry Farm

The 8th grade class will enjoy endless thrills at  Knott's Berry Farm. They will have all-day fun at one of the most thrilling playgrounds in Southern California!

Graduation Ceremony

Graduation Fee
$75 due, April 3,2020
Covers: cap and gown, decorations, Class of 2019

Must be paid with cash only.


Graduation rehearsal
June 9th
Students may bring their shoes with to practice walking on the stairs and stage, if necessary.
  Last Day
Last official day of school for 8th graders is Wednesday, June 9th.

Eligibility for Graduation
Academics
Students that fail one or more classes will not be able to participate in the graduation ceremony.
  1. Students that fail more than one course will repeat 8th grade.
  2. Students that fail one course will be permitted to attend summer school. Upon successful completion of summer school, they will be promoted to 9th grade.
Behavior
Misbehavior at school or at school functions (including field trips) may result in being unable to participate in graduation ceremonies at administrator discretion.

Ceremony:
Friday, May 10th at 6:30 pm
Location: to be announced at a later date

Ticket prices: to be announced at a later date
 
Dress Code (for everyone): Formal event
 
Drop off time for students: to be announced
 
Photos: Utilize cordoned off photo aisle, do not block stage.
 
Etiquette During Ceremony: No noisemakers, yelling, banners, balloons (none allowed at venue)
